 | Jennifer Nemec PTA President
| As we move forward into April we have Spring Pictures and the Township Food Drive, and we are determining who is staying/who is going in regards to all the committees. You do not have to be a current Board member to chair a committee, so if there is a committee that you are interested in, please let me know. Even if that committee is not vacant, you can always work with the current committee chair or if that committee is vacant and you are nervous about chairing it alone, you can ask a friend to co-chair that committee with you! Click here to view a list of the Committees. If you have any questions, please send me an email at nnemecfamily@sbcglobal.net

News from the Classrooms

Wildcat WOW to Mrs. Kathy Hyla!
Mrs. Hyla who teaches sixth grade here at Frank C. Whiteley, successfully renewed her certification as a National Board Certified Teacher with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
As described in the District 15 Connections newsletter: National Board renewal is a rigorous process in which teachers reflect on their professional growth since originally becoming National Board Certified Teachers. They must demonstrate growth in their knowledge of content and research-based pedagogy, provide evidence of how they have incorporated these into their teaching practice, demonstrate how they have worked as teacher leaders, and demonstrate increased impact on student learning-both directly and indirectly.
Congratulations, Mrs. Hyla!
We are proud of YOU and privileged to have you at Whiteley!

Birthday Book Club |
Celebrate your child's birthday by donating a book to the Frank C. Whiteley Resource Center. Your child's name will be on a permanent label inside the book, and they will be the first to check it out.
Your child should receive their birthday greeting and information about joining the club the week of their birthday. If interested, send your donation ($10 - $15 for an entire book) and the form to school in an envelope marked Birthday Book Club. We will then invite your child to the RC to select a book from "the vault." Upcoming School Board Election
| |

Don't forget to vote Tuesday, April 5th.
Voter turnout is everything when it comes to school board elections.
It is critical that all PTA members demonstrate their role as child advocates by becoming educated about candidates for public office and their positions on legislative issues that are important to children and public schools. By exercising our democratic right to vote, we are able to give children a voice. PTA Votes!*

Helping Others
| You have undoubtedly heard about the earthquakes and tsunamis that plagued Japan, Hawaii and the western coast of the United States.
Here at Whiteley we have several families that have family back in Japan or have recently moved themselves back to Japan. We wanted to let you know of a way we could help these families and all those affected by this disaster from back here in Hoffman Estates, IL. The American Red Cross has been working closely with the Japanese Red Cross to help aid in anyway possible. You can help by making a donation to the Red Cross through their website, www.redcross.org for Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami or you can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. Thank you so much for your help! |
