President's Letter

Even though we are a month into 2011, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and heathly New Year!  I'm sure we all enjoyed our winter break and our extended 4 day weekend and now comes the hard part, waiting for Spring Break.  It will be here before you know it!

In the month of January, we were thinking GREEN!  We had our reusable bag sale and our winter coat drive.  We received great responses to both of these events.   Sold over 250 bags and sent over 200 outer wear items to the District 15 PTA Coat Closet!

Coming up in February we have our Pajama Spirit Day followed by a Bingo Night on the 3rd;  on the 11th we will have a Movie Night so start planning a date with your spouse for that evening while the kids watch a movie at school;  classroom Valentine's Day parties on the 14th; and No School on the 21st and 22nd.

Before you know it will be March.  And in March, we have a huge event planned for the 4th --- FUN FAIR. Fun Fair requires many volunteers so if you have not filled out your volunteer sheet, please do so and send with your child to give to PTA.  Do you know any high school students?  Ask them if they would like to volunteer.  Many students need hours and what a fun way to earn hours by working at a Fun Fair.
Fun Fair details.

Speaking of March, nominations are due for the current Board positions which are President, 1st Vice President Programs, Co-Chair 2nd Vice President Ways and Means, 3rd Vice President Legislation, and Secretary.  Anyone who was a Chairperson for two years is eligible for a Board position.
Please email me if you are interested in one of those positions.
jenpta
Jennifer Nemec, PTA President
A two year commitment is required.

We are also looking for new volunteers to help with our committees.  There are
quite a few of PTA Board members who are leaving this year and we need replacements. Many of the current Board members do "double duty" (meaning they chair more than one committee) because we are short volunteers.  It would certainly relieve them knowing that there is someone else who is willing to step up and help our PTA.  If you are worried about chairing a committee by yourself, ask a friend!  That's how most of us started with PTA.
For a list of the committees, click here.

Send me an email if you have any questions (nnemecfamily@sbcglobal.net).

Fun Fair Classroom Baskets

This year's fun fair will be here before we know it. There will be tons of fun for the entire family.

Each year, one of the biggest draws to the fair is the CLASSROOM BASKET RAFFLE.  Each classroom has a theme to work with.  We are asking that you donate new items and turn them in to your child's teacher by Thursday, February 24th.  The items will then be put together to make a basket that will be on display the week prior to the fun fair.  For a complete listing of all classroom baskets, click here.  Tickets will be available to purchase before and during the fun fair.  The winning ticket for each basket will be drawn towards the end of the fun fair.  You do not need to be present to win!

We are also looking for business donations as well.  If you are a small business owner or work for a company that is willing to donate something, feel free to contact me.  We are looking for any size donations whether it is a gift card or a business product.  We welcome any and all donations.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Langston at aalangston@comcast.net .

The fun fair committee thanks you in advance for your generosity.
