  PresidentAmy Langston:

President of the local PTA
  2nd Vice President's, Ways & MeansClarissa Pawlikowski & Ellen Josten:

This is the committee that is responsible for our main fundraising events. The wrapping paper sale and new fundraising events to come are handled here. Responsibilities include contacting companies and choosing one for the sale, running the sale and distribution of the products back to the families.
TreasurerDawn Plizga:

The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the PTA’s bank accounts. They provide detailed reports at each PTA meeting and keep accurate records for audit at the end of the school year. The Treasurer also writes checks for all PTA expenditures.
 
  1st Vice President, ProgramsPaula Riccardo:

The 1st Vice President plans meet the teacher day, family picnic, disco, ice cream social and skating party. This person also plans several assemblies throughout the year for the students.
  3rd Vice President, LegislationKatie Hogan:

The VP of Legislation is responsible for passing along information to members about legislative issues concerning our children. They will send out a Call to Action when important legislation is coming up for a vote by our representatives either in Springfield or Washington. They are also responsible for updating our bylaws.
SecretaryAnne Morel:

The Secretary records minutes at every PTA meeting and distributes copies via email to board members for their review before the next meeting. Assemble and distribute welcome bags to incoming Kindergarten students and purchase engraved bricks for retiring teachers.

  Book FairBarb Downing & Garry Offord:

Book Fair is held annually in November during teacher conferences. Book Fair committee is the liaison between the school and the book company. They are responsible for set up of the book fair, finding volunteers to help at the Book Fair and breakdown when the book fair is over.
      Literacy / Birthday Book ClubCommittee Chair Position Open for 2010-2011 School Year:

Katie Hogan:

Works with Six Flags in distributing reading log sheets to all children, collects the log sheets, requests free tickets from Six Flags for all students that completed the reading program and then distributes the tickets. Also helps Mrs. Saez with Birthday Book Club orders and other reading incentives as needed.

  Box TopsCommittee Chair:

Andrea Rodino:

Collects Box Tops from teachers, counts each classroom’s submission, sorts into groups of 50, submits to General Mills and organizes a Box Top party for the winning classrooms. Contests are held 3 times a year.
      MannaCarrie Schalk & Asiya Syed:

This is a gift card program which school can earn a percent on each gift card that is ordered. The responsibilities include distributing order forms to families, collecting the order forms, summarizing all orders, placing the order with Manna and distributing the gift cards to the families.
School KitsJen Kiolbassa:

Responsible for contacting a company, sending out order forms, placing an order with the company.
 
  CalendarEric Chao:

Responsible for publishing the school calendar. The majority of this work is done over the summer, collecting event dates and plugging them into the calendar program. This committee decides on the theme of the calendar. When the calendar is completed they send to the printer and distribute to the entire school.
      Market DayJen Price & Melissa Schlesinger:

The Market Day committee distributes market day forms, collects them, makes sure orders are placed and are at school each month with other volunteers to unload the truck and take care of sales. This is a fundraising opportunity for the PTA.
School PicturesPaula Riccardo:

This committee oversees and coordinates picture and re-take day in fall and spring pictures in April.
 
  Community OutreachMary Beth Warner & Nancy Edwards:

Organizes the children’s gift drive in December and food drives as needed throughout the year.
  Membership & DirectoryChair Open 2012-2014:

Responsible for membership drive and soliciting local businesses to join our PTA. At the end of the membership drive, responsible for creating the school directory and having it printed.
6th Grade ActivitiesKorene Palazzo:

Generally this is a group of 6th grade parents who plan the year-end-party for the 6th grade class. They also work with the 6th graders to earn money for their end of the year party and they also design the current year class t-shirt.
 
  Creature FeatureCommittee Chair Position Open for 2010-2011 School Year:

Alma Craft:

Do you ever stop to see what kind of critter is in the case outside of the Resource Center? These critters are rotated in and out by this committee. This committee is also responsible for caring for the critters.
  Multi-CulturalChristine McGuire & Carrie Schalk:

This committee is responsible for Whiteley’s Multi-Cultural event. This is a chance for the diverse cultures, present in our school, to share food and entertainment from their country while teaching and familiarizing students about their culture. This is a great way to get involved in the diverse community at Whiteley.
SPARKChair Position Open:

The SPARK (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge) representative is our liaison with the district SPARK committee. This committee was formed in response to the growing needs of families whose children learn differently or have special needs.
 
  Environmental EducationHeather & Noel Hazlett:

Creates awareness of environmental issues through promoting recycling programs, waste free lunches, etc. Time commitment is ongoing, depending on how much the committee wants to do.
  NewsletterJean Swenson & Dayna Steneck:

Collects information for articles from various sources and distributes a monthly eNewsletter and weekly updates to mailing list via Constant Contact. Maintains list of email addresses for those requesting the eNewsletter.
SpiritwearMary Beth Warner& Jennifer Ferrar:

Sends out order forms for spiritwear and distributes items when they come in.
 
  Fun Fair2010-2011 School Year:

Jennifer Price

This committee organizes the annual Fun Fair event from contacting the company to managing volunteers and requires a huge commitment during the planning period. In addition, they assemble bags of goodies to incoming Kindergarten students at which are given out at registration.
  Plum Grove LiasonBarb Downing:

The contact person at the Junior High level.
Staff AppreciationBarb Downing & Carrie Schalk:

The Teacher Appreciation committee plans an event for each day for 1 week in May. Events for the teachers include a teacher’s luncheon and a coffee/tea cart that travels to each classroom providing treats.
 
  Health & Safety   Recreation NightsJen Kiolbassa:

Works with PE Teacher in creating a fitness fun evening for all grade levels. Number of nights may vary as well as the combination of grade levels.
WebsiteDayna Steneck:

Responsible for maintaining our PTA website.
 
  HospitalityNancy Edwards:

In charge of organizing Moms & Munchies and Dads & Donuts.
  ReflectionsMarnie Bushmole:

This committee is responsible for distributing entry forms and submitting the entries for the statewide PTA reflections contest. This is a contest offered to students each year giving them the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings on a specific topic in any one of several different formats such as writing, art, photography, music or poetry.
YearbookPaula Riccardo:

This committee takes pictures at school events, creates collage pages for the yearbook, sells and distributes the yearbook.
 
  KindergymKatie Hogan:

This committee runs the Kindergym Program (October – April) and works in tandem with the P.E. teacher. Coordinates volunteers and organizes the Kindergym Olympics.
    Communications Dayna Steneck & Jean Swenson:

This committee includes the newsletter committee and the website committee.

The President's message here

Greetings Frank C Whiteley Families and Friends,

My name is Amy Langston, and as the 2011-2012 PTA President, I would like to welcome you to the beginning of the school year at Whiteley.

Our school has been very fortunate in having exceptional teachers and staff, who continually strive to create an ideal learning environment for each student. Our PTA continually works to help support our school and parents, so that the needs of our students are best met.

Because of our generous and active parents, we have a strong PTA presence within our school. Many thanks to all of you, who graciously donate your time and financial support to help our PTA succeed. Our PTA Board is thrilled to help provide enriching and academic activities and materials that help to develop our children’s social and academic skills.

Together, we the PTA look forward to creating another rewarding year at Whiteley School. Thank you for your support, dedication, and for entrusting us to help create a positive school experience for your child.
